0 In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. 1 Heat over high heat until the sugar has completely dissolved, stirring occasionally. 2 Turn off the heat, and add the halved and pitted cherries. 3 Let steep for an hour at room temperature before transferring to a mason jar.
